Urgent Call to Action: Expel the Russian Federation from the United Nations ~ In Defense of Einstein’s Vision and the Future of International Law

The Crisis at Hand
The war in Ukraine, initiated by the Russian Federation’s full-scale invasion in February 2022, is not just a regional conflict—it is a defining test of the United Nations’ credibility. Albert Einstein once called the UN’s greatest virtue its “psychological or educational effect”—its potential to wean nations off brute force and onto dialogue. But what happens when a permanent member uses its seat not to preserve peace, but to wage war, execute prisoners, abduct children, and veto justice?
There is no ambiguity:
March 2025: Russian forces executed four unarmed Ukrainian POWs in Piatykhatky,. Over 245,. POWs have been killed since 2022,.
Ongoing: Over 20,000 Ukrainian children have been forcibly deported and indoctrinated, violating international law and basic human dignity.
Widespread: Civilians have been tortured, raped, and bombed in their homes, schools, and hospitals.
Legal Recognition: The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for President Putin and top officials for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
This is not a political debate. It is a question of whether the United Nations will enforce its Charter—or allow its principles to be hollowed out from within.
A Misbegotten Membership
When the Soviet Union dissolved in 1991, the Russian Federation claimed its seat at the UN without formal application, vote, or legal process. It was a political accommodation—not a Charter-based succession. That irregularity might have remained buried—if Russia had not become a repeat and egregious violator of international law.
Einstein foresaw this risk when he warned that the UN, as a federation of governments and not of peoples, could be overtaken by “power politics.” That warning is now reality.
A Permanent Member Turned Predator
Russia was entrusted with a permanent seat to guard global peace. Instead, it has become the greatest threat to it. The Russian Federation has turned its veto power into a shield for aggression—blocking investigations, aid efforts, and resolutions aimed at peace.
This is not just procedural abuse. It is a desecration of the UN Charter.
Einstein’s Warning, Ignored
In "Potentialities of the U.N." (1952), Einstein described the UN as a fragile yet hopeful beginning—a place to foster cultural understanding and universal human rights. But he also warned:
“To give formal recognition to standards and to adopt them as the guiding lines of action... are two very different things... The Declaration will exert effective influence when the United Nations itself shows by its decisions and actions that it does embody, de facto, the spirit of this, its own Declaration.”
That moment of truth is now.
Reinforcing Global Consensus
President Zelenskyy’s 10-Point Peace Plan includes:
[5] Implementation of the UN Charter and restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and the world order.
And as Arnold Schwarzenegger reminded global leaders:
“One hundred forty-one nations at the United Nations voted that Russia was the aggressor and called for it to remove its troops immediately. Only four countries in the entire world voted with Russia. That is a fact.”
The Case for Expulsion
As of July 2025, the evidence is overwhelming. Russia’s actions constitute a material breach of the UN Charter, a moral betrayal of the institution’s founding, and a strategic threat to global peace.
Moral Authority: War crimes, child abductions, and civilian bombings are incompatible with UN membership.
Legal Precedent: Russia’s original membership is legally questionable; its conduct erases any legitimacy.
Political Reality: Russia’s veto undermines every mechanism of international accountability.
The World Must Act
We call on the international community to:
1. Invoke an Emergency Special Session under the Uniting for Peace resolution.
2. Demand an Expulsion Vote for the Russian Federation on grounds of systemic Charter violations.
3. Mobilize Global Support, transcending political alliances, in defense of humanity, law, and truth.
A Test of Global Conscience
Einstein urged humanity to develop “a new kind of loyalty... that does not stop short at national boundaries.” That loyalty is needed now—from governments, from leaders, and from every nation that claims to stand for peace.
This is not just about Ukraine. It is about whether the world will uphold the vision behind the UN—or surrender it to the logic of tanks,. and terror.
The time for debate is over.
The time for action is now.
